All in all, the Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers is almost as much of an achievement as its predecessor was, but it simply suffers from being the middle, and therefore least interesting, installment in the trilogy of our time. Unlike the Empire Strikes Back or the Godfather Part II, both of which managed to overcome this flaw, the Two Towers feels all too much as a follow up to its predecessor while a build up to its follower. Even so, that’s the only major flaw that I can recount for the Two Towers, for there is a heap of a lot of praise to put in to it as well. It's goes deeper into its principal characters, maintains excellent pace for a three-hour long piece, the production value is outstanding, the acting is above and beyond satisfactory, the scenery is beautiful, and in addition, the climactic Battle of Helm’s Deep is without a doubt one of the best battle sequences ever captured on film. The Two Towers is movie entertainment as good as it could ever get, even if it was marred only by that one, simple flaw. As with the first installment, I highly recommend that you take a look at the extended edition. A—
