Grade: A
The Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring is no doubt the best fantasy motion picture since 1939’s the Wizard of Oz. Even clocking in at three hours in length (the extended edition runs three and a half hours), it’s very entertaining, well-made, and evenly paced. Not only that, but the production values are incredible. Filmed beautifully in New Zealand, the Fellowship of the Ring is the first installment in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. After watch all three films multiple times, I have decided that this one captures the vastness of Middle-Earth the best, in that it’s so effortless, eloquent and dedicated to in telling the story so well, and because the art direction and production values again are so genuinely incredible. There’s something about this motion picture that feels special, so special as to that it’s unexplainable, to the point as to that the Fellowship of the Ring has become one of the most thrilling and immensely entertaining film adventures I have ever seen. I highly recommend that you watch the extended version that runs three and a half hours in total running time, and highly expands upon the theatrical version. A
