We can always credit Gene Hackman for being such a worthy actor working in Hollywood. He's splendid to watch on screen, but I must argue against a lot of his film choices. The Package is a very poor film choice for Hackman. It's a relatively little-known film, but it offers nothing fresh whatsoever. Now, I can't call a movie poor just because it's existance is of little knowledge to the general public. But I can criticize the Package for it's inability to even try to be a decent flick to watch. Right before watching the Package, and for a film of this level, I would at the very least expect something of a C or C— quality: it may be fine to watch once, but immediately afterwords, it becomes distinctively forgettable. The Package isn't anything worthy to watch, and afterwords it does become distinctively forgettable. It's an unneccessary, outdated and outworn film that can't really even find any excuses for it's mishaps. Why Hackman would sign up for obsolete foolishness like this, I don't know. D
